Event Terms & Conditions

Please read the following carefully. These Event Terms and Conditions (these “Event Terms”) govern your registration for, participation in, and attendance at Crooked Media’s (“Crooked,” “we,” “us,” “our”) CrookedCon (the “Event”). These Event Terms supplement and are incorporated into our Terms of Service. By registering for and/or attending the Event, you acknowledge and agree that your participation in the Event is subject to these Event Terms, our Terms of Service, available at https://crooked.com/terms/, and our Privacy Policy, available at https://crooked.com/privacy/.

In the event of a conflict between these Event Terms and the Terms of Service, these Event Terms shall control with respect to any matters related to the Event. These Event Terms may be updated or modified at any time, and any such changes will be effective upon posting.

1. Registration and Payment

1.1. Registration Required. You must complete the registration process and pay the full applicable registration fee in advance of the Event. You may be denied access to the Event if you have not completed the registration process and or paid for your registration in full prior to the start of the Event.

1.2. Authorized Payment Methods. You acknowledge that in order to register for the Event, you will be required to provide a current, valid, accepted method of payment (“Payment Method”) and you agree that we may charge your Payment Method. By submitting Payment Method details to Crooked or to our third-party payment processors, you grant (or otherwise authorize) Crooked the right to store and process your information with such third parties. You agree that Crooked will not be responsible for any failures of such third parties to adequately protect your information. You shall be responsible for all charges incurred using your Payment Method as well as for paying any applicable taxes and possible transaction fees. By providing Crooked with your Payment Method, you agree that Crooked (or its third party service providers) is authorized to immediately charge your Payment Method for all fees and charges due and payable to Crooked as a result of your order, including but not limited to service fees, transaction fees, overdraft fees, or any other fee or charge associated with your participation in the Event and/or purchase of products.

1.3. Right to Refuse or Cancel Registration. Crooked reserves the right to refuse, cancel, or revoke your registration in its sole discretion, including, without limitation, where you have not completed payment within the designated timeframe or you have violated any provision of these Event Terms or our Terms of Service.

1.4. Additional Payment Terms. All payment-related terms not expressly addressed in these Event Terms are governed by our Terms of Service incorporated herein by reference.

2. Cancellation and Refund Policy

2.1. Attendee Cancellation. All ticket sales are final. We are unable to offer cancellations or refunds for any reason. If you are no longer able to attend, you may request a ticket transfer by emailing [email protected] until October 1, 2025. Transfer requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, but approval is not guaranteed. Cancellations received after October 1, 2025 are not eligible for a refund, regardless of the reason for cancellation, including but not limited to illness, travel delays, or personal scheduling conflicts.

Refunds, where applicable, will be issued using the same Payment Method used for registration unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2.2. Cancellation or Postponement by Crooked. Crooked reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, postpone, or modify the format of the Event due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including, without limitation, insufficient registration, unavailability of the venue, or force majeure (as further described in Section 8).

If Crooked cancels the Event, Crooked will issue you a full refund of your registration fee. If Crooked postpones or reschedules the Event, your registration will be honored for the new dates, and no additional action on your part will be required.

In either event, Crooked’s liability is strictly limited to the amount that you paid for your registration. Crooked accepts no responsibility for, and expressly disclaims all liability for, any additional costs or expenses you may have incurred, including, without limitation, for travel to and accommodations during, the Event.

3. Substitution Policy

3.1. Attendee Substitution. If you are no longer able to attend the Event, you may request that we transfer your registration to another individual. To do so, you must submit a written substitution request to Crooked at [email protected] before October 1, 2025. All substitution requests must include: (i) your name and contact information, and (ii) the name and contact information of the proposed substitute. You also agree to provide any additional information that we may reasonably request in connection with processing your substitution request.

All substitution requests are subject to Crooked’s review and approval, which may be withheld in Crooked’s sole discretion. All substitute attendees must agree to be bound by these Event Terms, as well as our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. No substitutions will be accepted after October 1, 2025.

4. Event Changes

4.1. Program Modifications. Crooked reserves the right to make changes to any aspect of the Event at any time and without prior notice, including, without limitation, changes to the schedule, speakers, session topics, venue, format (in-person or virtual), and overall program structure. You acknowledge and agree that you will not be entitled to a refund, credit, or any other form of compensation as a result of such changes.

4.2. Notice of Changes. Crooked will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes to the Event as soon as practicable, however, Crooked cannot guarantee individual notice in all cases. It is your responsibility to stay informed by regularly monitoring the Event website, official communications, and other communications channels that Crooked may designate from time to time.

5. Code of Conduct

5.1. Expected Conduct. All attendees, speakers, sponsors, staff, and volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner at all times during the Event. This includes interactions in all Event-related spaces, such as sessions, networking events, exhibit areas, online platforms, and social media channels associated with the Event.

Without limiting the foregoing, you are expected to:

  • Treat other attendees with dignity, courtesy, and respect;
  • Engage in dialogue constructively and thoughtfully;
  • Respect differing opinions and backgrounds; and
  • Follow all instructions issued by Event staff or venue personnel.

5.2. Prohibited Conduct. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and may result in your immediate removal from the Event:

  • Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or any form of verbal or physical abuse based on race, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, national origin, or any other protected characteristic;
  • Unwelcome sexual attention or physical contact;
  • Disruptive, aggressive, or inappropriate language or behavior;
  • Stalking or following;
  • Inappropriate use of imagery, recordings, or language in sessions, presentations, or public areas; and
  • Unauthorized access to restricted areas.

5.3. Compliance with Venue Rules. You must also comply with all rules, policies, and procedures established by the Event venue.

5.4. Enforcement and Remedies. Crooked reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary and appropriate in response to a violation of this Code of Conduct, including but not limited to:

  • Revoking your access to one or more Event sessions or areas;
  • Removing you from the Event without refund; and/or
  • Banning you from all future Crooked events.

Additionally, serious incidents may also be reported to local law enforcement authorities and/or venue management, as applicable.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1. Intellectual Property Ownership. You acknowledge that all materials made available during the Event, including, without limitation, presentations, videos, audio recordings, written content, logos, branding, and any other Event-related materials (collectively “Event Materials”), are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Unless otherwise expressly stated herein, all intellectual property rights in the Event Materials are owned by Crooked or the respective rights holder.

You may not copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, publicly display, transmit, distribute, or otherwise use any Event Materials without the prior express written consent of Crooked or the applicable rights holder.

6.2. No Recording. You are strictly prohibited from recording, photographing, streaming, broadcasting, or otherwise capturing any portion of the Event or the Event Materials, without our prior written consent. Violations of this section may result in your removal from the Event and/or denial of access to future Crooked events.

7. Liability Waiver and Assumption of Risk

7.1.Limitation of Liability. In no event shall crooked be liable to you for any direct, indirect, special, consequential, or exemplary damages (including personal injury, loss of or damage to personal property, or any other losses arising from, relating to, or in any way connected with your registration for or attendance at the event or these event terms, arising and whether framed in contract or tort, regardless of the negligence (either active, affirmative, sole, or concurrent) of crooked, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

7.2. Attendee Responsibility. You acknowledge and agree that you are solely responsible for your participation in the Event, including any travel arrangements, accommodations, and participation in optional or affiliated activities. By attending, you agree to indemnify and hold Crooked harmless from and against any claims, losses, or liabilities arising from or related to your participation in the Event, except to the extent caused by Crooked’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.

7.3. Assumption of Risk, Release, and Indemnification. By registering for and/or attending the Event, you acknowledge, agree, and represent as follows:

i. Assumption of Risk. You acknowledge and agree that your participation in the Event is voluntary and that participation may involve certain inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to, minor injuries (such as trips, falls, or collisions), adverse weather conditions, large crowds, exposure to illness or communicable diseases, and other unforeseen circumstances associated with public gatherings. You understand and accept that Crooked cannot eliminate all such risks, and you voluntarily assume full responsibility for any injury, illness, damages, loss, or other harm that may result from your participation in the Event, whether occurring before, during, or after the Event, and regardless of whether such harm is caused by the negligence of Crooked or others, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

ii. Release and Waiver of Liability. You, on behalf of your heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, and discharge Crooked and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, organizing partners, community partners, sponsors, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising our of or related to any injury, illness, death, or damage to property that may occur in connection with your participation in the Event, including but not limited to claims arising from the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties.

iii. Indemnification: You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to your participation in the Event or violation of these Event Terms.

iv. Consent to Medical Treatment: In the event that you require medical attention during the Event, you consent to receive such medical treatment as deemed necessary by Event staff, volunteers, or medical personnel. You understand, acknowledge, and agree that you are solely responsible for any costs or expenses associated with such treatment.

8. Force Majeure

8.1. Crooked shall not be held responsible or liable for any delay or failure in the performance of its obligations hereunder (including the holding or hosting of the Event) to the extent such delay or failure is caused by (i) storm, flood, fire, earthquake or other acts of God; (ii) war, invasion, hostilities, terrorist threats or acts, riot, or other civil unrest or violence; (iii) any disease, epidemic or pandemic, including novel coronavirus COVID-19 (together with any mutation, adaptation, or variation thereof), (iv) embargoes or blockades; (v) national or regional emergency; (vi) strikes, labor stoppages, or slowdowns or other industrial disturbances; (vii) any order or guidance from any governmental or quasi-governmental organization, including without limitation in regard to travel, public gatherings, or health and safety; (viii) disruptions in supply chains, hotel inventory, commercial air travel or other public transportation; (ix) failure of carriers or utilities or equipment beyond Crooked's reasonable control; (x) unavailability of the venue through no fault of Crooked; or (xi) other similar causes beyond Crooked’s reasonable control.

9. Photography, Audio, and Video Recording

9.1. Notice of Recording and Use. The Event may be photographed, filmed, or otherwise recorded by or on behalf of Crooked for promotional, marketing, archival, or other legitimate business purposes. By entering the Event venue, you acknowledge that you may be photographed or recorded as part of the audience or in informal settings such as networking sessions, panel discussions, or workshops.

9.2. Consent and Release. By attending the Event, you grant Crooked and its affiliates, partners, sponsors, licensees, and assigns the irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right and permission to use, reproduce, publish, distribute, display, and/or modify your name, image, likeness, voice, and any statements made in connection with the Event in any medium now known or later developed, including but not limited to social media, websites, marketing materials, promotional videos, and press releases, without further notice, compensation, or approval.

9.3. Opt-Out Procedure. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, you must notify Crooked in advance by contacting us at [email protected] no later than October 1, 2025. Crooked will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests, however, Crooked cannot guarantee that you will be excluded from all photography or recordings, particularly in group or crowd shots.

10.  SMS Communication and Marketing

10.1. By registering for the conference and providing your mobile number, you consent to receive transactional and informational text messages related to the event, such as schedule updates, venue information, and other important event logistics.

10.2. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

10.3. You may opt out of promotional SMS communications at any time by replying “STOP” or contact [email protected].

10.4. Your phone number and other personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and will not be shared or sold to third parties for marketing purposes.

10.5. Please note that you cannot unsubscribe from certain correspondence from us, including messages relating directly to your account or purchases placed through our site.
